Our beers are available at bars, restaurants and liquor stores in the Duluth/Superior area, along Lake Superior's North Shore to the Canadian Border across Northern Wisconsin, all the way to the Minneapolis/St.Paul and surrounding area and west to St. Cloud. We are currently working on expanding our territory to the Minnesota/Iowa border and Minnesota/Wisconsin border south of the Twin Cities.
We brew a total of 9 different beers during the year. Four beers are brewed year round, four beers brewed in a limited amount are available seasonally and one contract beer. All beers are available on draught in 15.5 gallon, 7.75 gallon and (upon request) 5 gallon soda kegs. Our 4 year round beers are also available in non-returnable 12 oz. bottles.
In addition to our fresh micro-brewed beers Lake Superior Brewing Company's Highbridge Root Beer TM is available on draught in Superior, Wisconsin and along the Northern Wisconson border. In Minnesota you will find Highbridge Root Beer TM available on draught in Grand Marais at The Gunflint Tavern. For parties, special events or to enjoy at home our root beer is also available on draught for purchase directly from the brewery. Please call us to place your order.
Special Ale®
(Our Flagship; Brewed year round) - A North American style of the classic
British pale ale. Brewed with imported English ale yeast and generous amounts
of Cascade hops from the Pacific Northwest for a distinctive hop flavor
and and aroma. O.G. 1.052. Available in 12 oz. bottles.
Kayak KölschTM
(Brewed year round) - Our version of the unique German ale originating
in the city of Köln (Cologne). This is a very pale brew made from five
different malts and two hop varieties. A period of cold aging ensures a
soft malty character. O.G. 1.044. Available in 12 oz. bottles.
Mesabi RedTM
(Brewed year round) - Our interpretation of the American red
ale style. Unlike most other examples of the style, ours is a dark, robust
red from the use of 5 different malts. A blend of 3 different hops from 4
additions gives our Mesabi Red a full hop character. At 6.5% ABV, our
strongest regular beer. O.G. 1.064. Available in 12 oz. bottles.
High Bridge Root BeerTM
(Brewed year round) - Our rootbeer is brewer
tested and kid approved. An original recipe developed at our brewery. A
blend of rootbeer flavors, pure vanilla, local honey and Lake Superior
water, gives our root beer a creamy/smooth taste with a hint of
wintergreen.
Split Rock BockTM
(late winter/spring seasonal) - This is a hearty, dark
mahogany-colored beer, malty with chocolate overtones, brewed using 5
different malts. Lake Superior Split Rock Bock is the festival beer for
the annual Fitger's Bock Fest held in March. O.G. 1.055.
Marathon WheatTM
(Summer seasonal) - Released in June in honor ot Duluth's popular marathon
race. A true German Hefe-weizen. A refreshing beer, 55% wheat malt, a blend
of German hops and imported German ale yeast. Fruity overtones and cloudy
in the traditional Hefe-weizen style. O.G. 1.054.
St. Louis Bay IPATM(India Pale Ale)
(Summer seasonal) -
True to style. Slightly darker than Special Ale(R),
this beer is chock full of hops (over 1 pound per barrel). Using a blend
of English hops, this brew is dry hopped using East Kent Golding, our own
English ale yeast and a hint of oak. St. Louis Bay IPATM
is a hop lovers delight. add O.G. 1.058.
